family w/end meet between Derby & Bodmin! Help please :)

I seem to have been voted as organiser for a big meet up of all my cousins (11 of us, plus partners), their kids (approx 15/16 of them & their partners) and the grandkids (NO! i havnt got grandkids!!!!!)

Anyway, the meet could be as big as 50/60 people, age range from 66 down to 1 year old, and the family is spread from Bodmin to Derby, so a weekend away, possibly Fri-Mon with something to suit all age ranges, and all budgets, - oh! and at least one couple want to take their dog....

My first thought is a holiday camp, but one of my cousins has been to the Minehead camp and said its full of hen parties at the weekend, and doesnt think that camp is very good. I have been looking at a Haven camp at Burnham on sea, but had also thought maybe we could do something really off the wall, like rent a castle or something, but all the castles seem to be in Scotland, surprise, surprise.

Anyway, can anyone come up with any ideas, links please, or any thoughts on The Haven site at Burnham? Its probably going to be next spring. One of the group suggested sun holidays, but i think the mechanics of organising that at the same time would be a bit too much to cope with,

Many thanks for any help on this nigh on impossible task!!!

xx

    There is NOTHING in Burnham.

Weston-Super-Mare was bearable because of the pier but that's no more.....I suggest you look elsewhere; Ilfracombe or Woolacombe are both very nice?

Have you thought of seeing if ther's a youth hostel / YHA / National Trust property you could hire?

With that many people you could get a bargain

Or a private hotel and hire the lot!

If you look in an area you'd like. I'm sure there will be a hotel that does weddings etc that will available for a 20/30 rooms entire booking.
    Especially for 3/4 nights.

  • Woolacombe bay holiday parks are nice. There are four and you can use the facilities in each. There is a bus to each camp and the beach. I think twitchen park allows dogs. Not sure its an easy journey from Derby though. It takes us 3 1/2-4 hours from Oxfordshire.
