Buying from US how much tax will I pay??

hi there.

Ive seen a golf club on ebay, the item in in the US. The price to buy now is around £75.06 and postage is around £15.

When the item is shipped to me how much international tax or duty will i need to pay for the item.

It might come through with no charges if you are lucky but don't bank on this.

You may be charged duty which varies according to the item but typically is only a few per cent, VAT on the cost and carriage (about 15.75) and a customs fee of usually between 8 to 15 pounds. So the total would be around 120 pounds delivered.

Prepare for the worst and go ahead if it is still worthwhile; if you are charged nothing it will be a bonus. Keep an eye on the dollar pound exchange rate too - it is getting worse day by day.

Work on 20% of the all in price cost plus P+P. If possible get them to post US postal service and not via courier.

In your example the cheapest it will be will be cost + 17.5% + £8 (£19.25) but might be a bit more depending bit shouldn't really be more than +/- £25.

thanks for all that, the club is worth about £90-£100 but if all the extras are added on its not worth the bother.
