Hi all,

Yesterday I got a letter from Bryan Carter solicitors about a debt that I've been dealing with Fredrickson International about. Are they the same company, or do I start the whole thing over again with BC?

Cheers.

Thanks for that, Fredrickson have asked me to fill in an I&E sheet so I'll just send that back and ignore Bryan Carter. I really don't like using the phone at the best of times, never mind to talk to these kinds of people! Although I did have fun with barclaycard the other week who tried to scare me until I said various things from this site that made them shut up.

From bitter experience---.If you get letters from alleged 'solicitors' attached to debt collection agencies-check the names on Companies House. as previous posters have said these are the 'frightener arms' of the debt collection agencies. The banks use 'debt collection agencies' as a first line frightener check these too -Barclays is also Mercers. Checkng Comopanies House is free.

I would NEVER ring any of these companies up again -keep EVERYTHING in writing-use these forums/National Debtline charity for letter templates and use them rigorously. Get certificates/proof from the post office of all letters sent. The companies really don't like you doing this.My argument is that if it's all kosher/going to end up in court etc-it's vital to have documentary evidence. They rely heavily on people being desperate/frightened-in my opinion it's a national disgrace that the system isn't better regulated. I think it's because the majoprity of the population think that debt is all the debtors fault and they should be punished accordingly-a kind of mental passdown to the Dickensian debtor's prison
  • i've just had a letter threatening bailiff fron Bryan Carter & Co* about an old debt with Co-op- that a/c went to a CCJ, and instalments were all paid up, as far as i can recall

the final payment was made after a reminder, 1 or 2 years ago (cant find receipts though..

i hadnt heard from them despite asking for statement at the time of last payment to confirm all paid up.. now they've added £300 on??

trying to find an email address to tell them to politely naff off, or at least hold actons until they detail what they reckon is due (charges, less payments recd etc- these were done by a paypoint card, though some receipts have faded..

    * printing at bottom of letter shows this is a trading name of Crellins Carter Solicitors, Weybridge..)

HI brightonman - Why not send them the National Debtline 'prove it' letter, that you can find in the folllowing link:

I would reccomend that you 'post' it by recorded delivery, rather than email.

Hi Ames, FV1 are part of Global Debt Recovery, another DCA. Who also use Bryan Carter. Send naff off letter to them. Including a request for a CCA. Sadly once they give up they just keep passing the debt from one to another. xxxxxxxxxxx

  • have ust got a statement from Byan Carter, showing that MORE charges were added, some time after the original court claim..

how can they do this?? as i do not recal seeing a second summons/judgement.

the original claim balance was paid off LAST YEAR, and I thought that was that- nothing heard from them until another charge add on just recently..

i would appreciate some help wording a letter on basis of this, and request (or asking?) them to reverse the 2nd lot of charges, or this will just go on and on, with fees buioding to exceeed the original debt!

  • Hi Guys,
Last year(26.06.08) Bryan carter sent me a demand for £150.00 saying that this matter is going to court (Northampton) for a ccj. I filled in court forms as I thought fit and sent them recorded delivery.
I heard nothing more, until yesterday(12.03.009) again from BC headed This Judgement Remains Unpaid and the amount is £696.44 quite a leap don,t you think and now wondering what to do next!.
Anybody had the same problem or delings with this firm I gather they are not the nicest people in the world, understatement I think.
    Regards

Were you actually notified, by the Court, that a CCJ had been issued?
