Many thanks

Strictly one item of cabin baggage is permitted per passenger (excluding infants). Handbag, briefcase, laptops, duty free etc must be carried within your permitted 1 piece of cabin baggage. It should weigh no more than 10kg and not exceed the maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm.0 -
but you can put your handbag in your carry on case just for the check in, and then take it out for easy access after!First baby (a boy) due 03.09.09 - eeeeeeeeekkkkk!0

That very much depends on the airport used, you wouldn't get away with that at some UK airports, security will stop you.;)0 -

This is true. East Mids has some jumped up fat ugly jobsworth working for Servisair, who handle Ryanair flights there. She makes her rules up as she goes along, regardless of what the tape measure / Ryanair's Ts & Cs say.
I digress.. East Mids won't let you take a handbag as well as a hand luggage bag. You have to put your handbag inside your hand luggage bag when going through security. This was the situation about 6 months ago, anyway.
Birmingham airport security, on the other hand, don't seem to mind how many pieces of hand luggage you have. Might be a different situation when you get to the gate though, and the airline staff / agents see you with more than their Ts & Cs allow.
Since Ryanair are money-sucking vultures, I'd read their Ts & Cs and follow them to the letter. They'd charge you for farting if they could.0 -
I was stopped going through security and told to put my handbag inside my little trolley case I was taking onboard. This was at Liverpool Airport. As soon as we got through security I took it out again and boarded the plane with the two separate bags and it was fine.0

Just come back from a Ryanair flight. We only travelled with hand luggage and I had to combine my handbag with my hand luggage on the way there, but on the return journey no one said a thing. Same thing applied to liquids, and security leaving the UK we had to take off our shoes and show all our liquids and on the return not a thing. This was from Bournemouth to Pisa last week0

Agreed, it still was 2 months ago as well, they make Adolf Hitler look attractive in comparison..
Not forgetting of course the oh so happy Customs Officers on your return to EMA.
They must all take happy pills at EMA.:mad:0 -

lol.. tell me about it. I live in Ireland, but I'm from England and I miss home - a lot. But I tell you something, when I was returning to Ireland after a brief visit to England six months ago, and met that horrible, (probably) s!x deprived, useless, rude and insulting individual who represented Servisair at East Mids, I was really happy to be leaving the place and heading back to my home in Ireland. Oh, she was so awful. I should have made an official complaint about her but I'd soon calmed down and then couldn't be bothered.0
