Need some help and advice.I'm a total novice so bear with me.
I have bought an Acer laptop (Aspire 5920/682G25MI) and a Netgear WPN824 router.I am a bit stuck as I don't know if I need a seperate card or anything for the laptop and router to connect. The laptop is wireless enabled already.
Is the set up process easy to install for the router. Is there anything that I should know as I realy don't want to screw up.Thanks .

You will need an Ethernet lead initially to set up the connection within the router.
Hopefully someone will come along soon and talk you through it. I have to go out.
Laptop is fine as it is.0 -

OK, basically you need to connect the router to your PC using the Ethernet cable to configure the router. You should change the wireless settings as follows: Change the SSID from the Netgear default to a unique network name of your choice, enter a long random passphrase from here into the WPA/WPA2 field (copy & save this to a notepad file). This is all explained the the Netgear user manual. After configuring the settings via Ethernet cable, disconnect the cable and power down your modem and router. Power up the modem and then after a couple of minutes power up the router. You should see your network in the list available, and will need to copy & paste in the pasphrase that you saved earlier to connect. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
