Hiyas!

Please, if you've had any experience with Gardens4You UK, do let me know if it's been good/bad/indifferent.

I'm trying to order for my MIL and on tight budget.

Many thanks.

  • Hi Angua2,

I notice that you didn't get a reply regarding Gardens4you. I was just wondering if you decided to go ahead and order from them anyway and if so, what did you think? I have just been looking at their site and there sems to be some good deals on there but I am still a little worried about buying online and not knowing what I'll get.

    Thanks

Sorry I cant answer the Question about Gardens4you ....

    but I'm the same

I've ordered some Veg Plug Plants from Vegetable Plants Direct, they seemed the cheapest. But I have to wait until May for my delivery, So I am worried that they wont turn up or they will arrive and be of poor Quality.... and then it will be too late for me to start sowing!!

I'm hoping that its worth the risk and the wait... some of the Plug Plants worked out cheaper than seed!

I've had Plug Plants (Not Veg) from Thompson & Morgan, Mr Fothergills and JD Parkers before and whilst they dont always look very healthy on arrival they are all starting to grow pretty well now.

I think it probably depends on what your ordering too

Just had a quick shuftie, the Bizzie Lizzies are very expensive for x10 plants. I got something like 64 plants for 9.99 at Gardeningdirect. I expect the ones they have for sale at gardens4you (just me that can't stand when they put 4 you in things)?? anyway I suspect you may get larger plants. So value wise - mmm I've seen better - what about a trip to the garden centre if you are both up to it? I noticed Aldi had some bedding plants too for under £2 but the shelves had been picked clean when I got there! Also popped into Tesco today and they chap there said they get more gardening stuff in on Thursday (if that helps)...
  • I've just ordered from Gardens4you (6 oriental poppies £12.99 + hydrangea annabelle £7.99). Their customer service is fantastic when I was placing the order yesterday. Now I'm waiting for the plants. I think these are coming from the Netherlands so it will take a couple of days. Will keep you posted.

    Hi,

I was just on the Irish version of Gardens4You website and was all ready to place an order when I noticed you cannot contact them via the website! Comes up as unauthorised to view :(

I've tried replying to the registration email to see if I get a response but it has put me off now. Want to get some colour in my garden after the harsh winter and replace some things I lost as reasonably as possible.

    Any advice?

Would be interested to see others opinions of them as I ordered off them on the 18th, money taken straight away but still no dispatch notice off them. According to their info dispatch should of been yesterday so will email them shortly.
  • I ordered in late April 2010 and am pleased with the service. Had problems with one item which turned out to be dead after a couple of months and they have replaced it with a much healthier looking plant and very promptly too. Would recommend using them.

I wouldn't order from them. I saw a link saying 'look at our testimonials' and clicked it and it came up as page can not be found. On their contact page the address is:

    Customer Service
Gardens4you.co.uk Achterweg Zuid 33c 2161 DX Lisse The Netherlands

Personally i would order from a more well established company based in the UK.
