Hi,
we're just in the process of buying a house and the curveyor recommended we get the electrics checked. Does anyone know how much this should cost, bearing in mind we are in Surrey? We are FTB so totally clueless!
Thanks

A full Periodic Inspection Report (PIR) for a domestic property is usually around the £140-£150 mark.
Check with your insurance comapny, but they may specify a registered contractor (NICIEC or similar).
The contractors listed below are all vetted.
You should use a competent person for the work, links below

Thank you. We're a bit concerned that if we get someone in they will say they need to be replaced whether they need to or not....... Do you have any idea of the cost of rewiring a 1920s small 3 bed terrace?2013 wins: March - book,0

Well we have exchanged contracts so I think it's too late to back out. And neither of us are in a chain (the seller's father owned it and he died). The surveyor just recommended we get it checked but I think it's unlikely to be up to modern standards as the house is a bit of a 1970s timewarp!
Thanks for the suggestions everyone2013 wins: March - book,0
