Hey well done for posting about this. I always feel its better to ask questions on here rather than have them swimming round in your head. Every one here normally manages to talk sense into me anyway.

I have an idea, you could say you were watching This morning and you saw our glorious leader :money: come on talking about the credit crunch and you decided to check out the website. Say that you spend hours thrawling through it. And you have decided that you want to get DF ASAP. And you are never going to waste money again. You are so determined to get out of debt. And if you want something you have decided to ask the questions. Do I need it, can I get it cheaper somewhere else?

All in all if you are going to buy something it will never be by credit card again and you will save for it. Tell her you were amazed reading peoples stories. That you really want to get your life on track as you want to Buy a house, go travelling etc or that when you settle down you would like to set a good example for your kids and have a good credit rating.

If you plant the seed in her head, get all excited about someones story you read, how they had like 12 different cc's and they have turned their life around and are so much happier.

She is probably a really nice girl under neath it all. Some people have crippling insecurities and they try to buy affection or buy stuff to make them selves feel better. If she just realised you would still like her if you took the bus to the park to just chill out and listen to some music or just chat.

Maybe she just needs to understand that money cant buy real happiness, and she is trying to "eat her emotions".

Ok going off on one sorry guys:o

Blimey and I thought I could eat!

It sounds like she's got a lot of problems, but it's not really up to you to sort them out. I agree with the others you have to think of yourself first. and she's not good for you. Maybe if she starts losing friends because of the actions she thinks is making her attractive to people then she'll start to understand and look for help for herself.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

She's not really a friend now is she.

Try having a word, point her at this site, and suggest that she makes her final spend a copy of the book "The South Beach Diet".

    Then leg it...

Oh THANK YOU ALL for your comments, they really really had me giggling. Well in fact, Joyful, Zazen999, Horace, rog2, geri1965, Bismark Mozette and bunnyinthelights, you guys had me in hysterics!:rotfl:

It’s not the 1st time I have met her however all the other times it’s been in a group not just me and her, however all those times she got black cabs there and back and ate the whole time and kept teasing me about being so frugal.

Its true I can back away slowly, I don’t feel like she is a true close friend just yet, we don’t have much in common anyway, I like active stuff, jogging and dancing and playing sport she is not interested in any of that (of course)

I would invite her over though but as savingholmes suggested she would need to bring her own food, I really can’t afford to feed someone that hungry.

I did enjoy chit chatting with her though but apart from loosly knowing the same crowd we don’t have that much connection.

Icka that is a fantastic idea and a good way of mentioning about this website but wouldn’t it be funny if she saw my post and recognised herself lol Poor woman, I didn’t realise it all could be self esteem, that makes me feel like sticking around if only to help her out. (sigh) this is how I end up getting myself into messes like this!

Jenjade im in London we are the same age :)

London all - so you know how expensive our black cabs are!!
In Jan 2007 I had a debt of £27,896.00
In October 2011 I paid it off and owned £0.00 - Kinda proud of this!:T

How about buying her an Oyster card - far cheaper than a cab. She must be rolling in it if she can afford one of them:eek: I can see why she doesn't like public transport its because she has to waddle to the bus stop.

You cannot fix her self-esteem or change her spending or eating habits, only she can do that so don't make a rod for your own back - leave now whilst you have the chance.

Thats the problem she is not rolling in it, she doesnt currently have a job as she was on a contract which ended, thats why at some point she wont be able to afford all of it. She is living on JSA and credit cards.

lol Horace...she says that public transport is too hot for her.

You are right...I can back away slowly..
