Sending big parcels to Spain

A friend of mine who's really struggling financially is having a baby soon. I have several baby items that no longer need and would be a godsend for her: car seat, moses basket, sterilizer, nursing pillow, musical mobile, lots of toys and a hell of a lot of baby clothes. Problem is, she lives in Spain. What would be the cheapest way to make a huge package with all the items and send them over to her? There's no big urgency, baby's due in December. Thank you.

I have relatives in Spain so I am often sending out packages. It always works out a lot cheaper to send things small parcel post than one large parcel - and they get there a lot faster - it might be worth going to your local post office to ask the maximum weight and dimensions for this.:D0

Hi there. Thanks so much but I'm talking about very large items such as a car seat and a moses basket; even individually they'll still be large parcels.0

Could you not take a cheap flight out there and take them over with you - it may be cheaper than posting them?0

of couriers that i know of, these are a cheaper option for taking items abroad.

I bought my pram from Germany, i cant remember the courier that the seller used, but it came in 3 boxes (pram , frame and pushchair set) and i paid about £24 for the lot.0 -
My OH read something the other day that many frequent/business travellers are now having their luggage picked up from home (or wherever) the day before they travel, and it is waiting for them at their destination when they get there. This saves them hassle at the airport as they only need to check themselves in and no luggage to wait for at the other end. They use companies like DHL etc. Certanly worth checking out I think. Hope that helps.

Was gonna suggest this, a sleazy jet flight and take stuff with you and a chance to have some girly time before the baby comesLife is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -
Just check the airline's policy on baggage and overweight / oversize items VERY carefully before you buy the ticket: if you end up with a seat where ANY checked luggage has to be booked in, it may not be a bargain any more ...Signature removed for peace of mind0

I would measure the size container/box that you will need and contact UPS, FEDEX etc and see what they say.0

I forgot to say, she is very lucky to have a friend like you. x0

Thank you all for your replies. The flight option wouldn't work I'm afraid. A 'cheap' flight with say Ryanair would restrict me to 15Kg which will not be enough and, in any case, they will not allow a package that size. I calculate that the parcel will be about 1.5x1.5x1.5 meters and maybe around 20Kg. I'll keep searching for suitable companies but if anyone knows of a specific one, I'd really appreciate it.0
