lost wireless connection and icon

Options
Help my son's have been messing with my wife's Asus Eee900 laptop, it won't connect to the wireless network, it has never been a problem before, there is no icon in the bottom right hand corner, nothing in the network connections, not sure what to do next.
The system restore is turned off and I can't turn it on it won't let me, is this normal in these laptops?
it is running xp home.

    Dont have one of these, but try Fn + F2 (usually Fn is blue on the bottom right of the keyboard), or else look for a wifi switch somewhere.
  • Trawl through msconfig and services.msc for networking / wireless related services to see if they've been altered/stopped and restart them.

    start -> run
    msconfig

    same for
    services.msc

    Must be administrator account to accesss these.

    now that I have got the connection back is there any reason why I can't get the system restore function to work, or does it not work on these type of laptops

    Meant the Fn key is on the left of the keyboard, but glad you found it.

    System restore would not have fixed your problem.

    If you right click on 'My Computer' and then properties and click on the system restore tab, see if it's been disabled. System restore uses up a fair bit of hard-drive space and those EEE pc are low on space so may be disable by default.
