I've posted this a couple of days ago but thought it sounded wrong so apologies if you've already helped me.
I have just bought a DG834Gv3 wireless modem/router. Unbeknown to me it was 'locked' into AOL but I have since reset the unit using the reset button. The unit came with an AOL set up cd but, as I'm not on AOL the cd is of no use to me.
Now my problem - I attach the phone line to the modem and ethernet cable to my laptop and then power it up. My laptop recognises the modem in the networks available and it also shows that the modem is online and working correctly but is unsecured.
How do I access the modem's settings to enter my ISP (Orange) settings ? What do I need to click on to gain internet access ?
I thought my laptop would recognise 'new hardware' and set the modem etc for me but it seems I'm wrong in that respect.
Please don't say refer to the Netgear website as I find that doubly confusing !
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Open up your web browser and type http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar and it'll come up with the router login page. Default settings for a normal DG834 is
username: admin
password: password
There's a setup wizard on the top left once you've logged in that'll do it for you.0 -
ISP sites generally list the settings required on their website, your'll have to check there (DNS etc) and make a note of them.
I'll guess that your routers address will be along the lines of 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 - enter that in a webbrowser and see if you get to your modem.
I trying to remember but I think the default login details will be admin & admin.
You could try the following:-
Start---> Run --> type CMD and press enter
in the command prompt enter ipconfig /all you'll get a lot of settings up. Have a look at your IP address & gateway address.
You'll have to set your PC to use the router/modem as the gateway address and your ISP settings for DNS.0 -
