I have an old desktop PC complete with monitor, keyboard mouse, speakers and all original handbooks/manuals disks for Windows 95.
I have reformatted and reinstalled Windows 95
Should I freecycle it or take it to the 'tip'?

Don't waste it!
Either put it on freecycle or contact youth clubs, community centres etc that may be grateful of it.
If it still works there's no point in condemning it just yet0 -
It does still work well and has really had very little use for all its age and I have to say the monitor picture is far superior to my present FST and my laptop.0

If you don't know anyone who wants it, then you could try freecycle, but it's a very old spec, so not in demand. Monitor and speakers may be of use to someone, but Flat screens are all the rage now, despite them being poorer quality.
If you had any personal info on there, you may wish to wipe the disk properly with dban, in case it ends up in China.
It didn't have anything very important on it, old holiday photos and suchlike, I haven't used it for about 5 years, I gave it to my ex when I bought a new one about 5 years ago and he's only used it to play games and look at photos, but thank you for the warning.0 -
Keep it, or sell it on eBay, although the general consumer has no use for it, the old machines are becoming like rockin horse $hite, they are perfect for legacy work for Engineer and software developers, they have ISA card slots, a couple of RS232 ports, slow processors and a very reliable too, I work for a company who have to support legacy APU's that are controlled by bespoke microcontrollers that will not work with 2000/XP/Vista or fast CPU's and theses products have to be supported for up to 30 years after manufacture. It will sell and you will get a good price for it.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
Loaner, if anyone were to recover my holiday photos they would soon delete them, even I never found them very interesting!0

Of course, if you're really feeling evil and wish someboy ill, you could put their data on it and then dump it...
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

You're saying that a CRT is better quality than an LCD?0 -
