I used to be one of those... Until I had children and packed in work... Now I'm always forgetting things and usually late... The stress of it would of killed me 5 years ago... Nowadays I'm not bothered at all!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Yeah, it's a thankless job and at times flippin' stressful. At least you have no surprises being the boss of your own wedding!
I can't wait until I can give it all up and have kids! Mind you, will probably be even more stressful (LOL!).

The stresses of children are different... They are worth stressing over for a start

Quite true - lots more important things to worry about than a wedding! On a good day when I put it all in perspective there really isnt that much to organise - once the main decisions have been made and everything booked! I was going to make things like invitations etc myself but now think its not worth it as they only get thrown away and you can get some lovely personalised cheap ones. There are loads of ways of taking the pressure off yourself, by passing the responsibility to someone else - eg making cake, catering, dress making etc.

Hi Ladies,
So many thanks for your quick replies! I'm in work at the mo and haven't had a chance to read all but didn't want to run and not post
I will get on later to update more.

I'm a great fan of lists that way as you tick things off you feel positive and it spurs you on to do more. I planned with my daughter her wedding and I only had 12 weeks to sort out a wedding for 200. We were fortunate as venue wasn't a problem, we used the church hall where we always attend, I made 2 bridesmaids dresses and tons of other stuff. She was also moving to Ireland so I had to help sort that out too. My list, posted up on the fridge, worked well. Also if you have a big piece of paper in an obvious place OH won't be able to avoid it and who knows he might even offer to blow up the balloons!! LOLNothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

Thank you all so much for your encouragement. I can't explain what happened, it just sort of overcame me on Saturday! I called my Chief Bridesmaid (or as she says Matron of Honour cos she's too old lol) and she calmed me down and put things into perspective.
My to do list this week is to book appointments for three photographers for next week, and to book two appointments for wedding dress trying ons!! I'm on holiday for 2 weeks from next week so want to get quite a bit of planning done.
I've had the nightmare alraedy, dreaming that I have no dress, nothing to get married in. Very scary!!!
Good luck to all fellow brides. This time next year I will be relaxing on honeymoon.....omg don't even get me started on my honeymoon. Where to start there lol.0 -
Ok, so I feel a lot more positive now. Today I:
1) Booked two appointments for wedding dress try ons
2) Booked and paid for wedding cars - old London black cabs as OH is London black cab driver and won't be seen in anything else!!!
3) Had a loooong chat with a photographer who has done a lot of weddings at my venue and is highly recommended and who I saw at 2 wedding fairs and I love him!!! He is emailing a price list over tonight, and I think I'm going to book him!!!
I feel like I've actually accomplished something now. I am going to visit my parents this weekend, and my mum has offered to do the stationery, so I want to talk "save the date" cards with her.
I hope everyone else's planning is going ok

Big hugs to you all, my wedding is just over a year away, 29/08/09 and I think I must have something wrong with me!! I am not worried at all!:rotfl:
We decided early on to hold the wedding reception at home as the cost of hiring a venue were just too much cash to part with! We decided to spend the money on the garden instead as this will be with us for years to come!
I am treating the whole organizing as a big party. If you forget you are getting wed(nigh on impossible i know) and just focus on the arrangements then it might help to get a picture of what is needed to be done.
A simple list of things you need to decide
Married in a church or at a venue/registry office
Where do you want the reception
How many invites
DRESS
Bridesmaids etc
Food
Photography
Invites
Cars
Flowers
There is obviously a lot more than thins but if you focus on the bigger things then the smaller things will follow! :T
Hope this helps!
Most of all.... enjoy all the planning, it is what we spend the most time doing!:p0 -
