Good Evening Ladies
I've been sat here for the last 2 hours starting to feel really stressed and I need some calm!!
We got engaged 14 Feb this year, 6 months ago. Our wedding is exactly one year today (or rather yesterday, it's Sat 15 August 2009). We booked our venue and the church on the 26 Feb this year, and since then.....have done absoloutely b**ger all!!
Today we went to see a photographer who I really didn't like, and this is starting to make me stressed. I've been sat here with my "wedding bible planner" thinking of all the things that I need to arrange. I literally cannot see the wood for the trees
Where do I go from here? What should I be booking/putting down deposits on now??
Tried asking my darling fiancee his opinion on various aspects, but then he started getting stressed and said his job was to pay for the wedding and turn up :rotfl: . All the organising was down to me . He has now gone to work to save for said wedding and I'm sat here singing wedding hymns to the dog who's clearly not interested!!!!!
Help!!!!!!

Seriously, I have knots in my stomach. I have spent the last half hour looking at wedding hymn lyrics.

I get married in 11 months and im not much further on than you! Ive booked the venue, church, photographer, car, balloon lady, bought my dress and bought the fabric for bridesmaid dresses. I have an appointment with a florist in 2 weeks time. I think these are probably the main things that may get booked up quickly but I think you still have time tbh.
Good luck and try to calm down - once you are in control of it and have a few things in hand you can then relax and enjoy the finer details! x0 -

Oh my god ive changed my mind so many times about so many things! Ive now made myself decide on a pattern and colour for the bms. But now I cant decide on the cake! Booked venue - but now not sure if should be in the big function room or marquee there! Finally decided what flowers after changing mind 4 times and chose 3 different cars and a horse and carriage before deciding! AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh xx0

My wedding is 6 weeks away... I'm just barely more planned than you lot...
Best place to start is the big things... Book the church, venue, the caterer etc.. then move onto the photographer, cars, flowers... Think about your colour scheme... then think about dresses and decorations and cakes...
We booked our church and venue in November last year then didn't really do a fat lot until about Feb/March this year so unless you plan to have the most popular everything I wouldn't worry too much...
Oh and hymns can wait till last too.... We haven't even confirmed ours yet

hi sammy take a few deep breaths and calm down !
I have done mostly the same as you, booked registry office, venue and photographer, I have thought about colour schemes and flowers etc but not done much about it, I have looked online at wedding dress styles I like.
Dont panic, you have loads of time ! Think of what you can accomplish in 365 days
loaaaaads !
Congratulations !Little Miss Sparkles :A

I agree with Krystaltips, get the basics sorted, you've got the church and the venue, book caterers if the venue doesn't provide it, also a photographer and the flowers. You don't need to decide on the exact photos or flowers yet though, so don't stress about that. If you have a local wedding magazine use that to research suppliers, or try yell.com. We're just going to our venue in taxis and decorating the venue ourselves so I don't know about how far in advance you should book those.
I've got my dress from the Pronuptia outlet in Edinburgh but I'd been planning on just getting something from Monsoon or using a bridesmaids dress so I'm not sure how far in advance you need to get the dress stuff started if you want to go the boutiques. Although I have bought my dress now I don't need to take it back for alterations until two months beforehand (March). My bridesmaids are just choosing whatever dresses they want from places like Coast, Kew and Karen Millen - as long as they are dusky pink/purple - so not sure how far in advance 'proper' dresses need to be found.
Above all, don't worry, you'll get it sorted and have a lovely day.Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

Wow, all of you are so organised, my wedding is in just over four weeks, we booked the ceremony a year ago and then did nothing until January. Don't panic about the small things they can all be sorted nearer the time, we have only just worked out what photo's we are having, you will find that you will change you mind and be the most indecisive person ever as the date gets nearer. Even now with some things I keep thinking is that right, should I have had or done this:rolleyes: .................................................and then the dreams start    lol (going up the aisle with no hair and make up done:eek:  ect).0

Hee hee, what are you lot like?!
Organising a wedding is a bit like gardening. You need to do it little and often. If you went into the garden every day and picked off the dead leaves, watered the pots, pulled out the weeds, etc. your garden would soon flourish and it would be a lot easier than spending a whole day once a week breaking your back in the garden.
Also, once you've chosen the date, booked the church and the reception venue it really doesn't matter what order you do things as everything needs to be done by that date. Prioritising is actually a waste of time. You need to just get on with it!
One thing that I've done which works very well is this:-
1. Buy a lever arch folder and extra wide dividers 1 to 31 and Jan to Dec
2. Take an A4 piece of paper and write on it something you need to sort and underline it (ie. Flowers)
3. Below that, write the first action you need to take (ie. go to library to look at flower books)
4. Put that piece of paper in tomorrow's section (ie. 18 for Mon 18 August)
5. Do the same thing for some if not all of your outstanding items
6 Tomorrow morning, open your folder at the corresponding day and go through each piece of paper and work on it in turn (ie. go to library and look at flower books)
7. Once you have done an action, cross it out, write down the next action you need to do and stick in tomorrow's section (ie. work out number of flower arrangements)
8. If you cannot work on a particular item defer it to the following day or whenever you can do that next action (ie. you may not be able to go in to speak to a florist until Saturday)
This system also works really well if you are waiting on someone to come back to you as you can make a note of it, work out a time limit and stick it in the appropriate day to remind you to chase them. You will never forget anything ever again!
I've found this book to be really helpful:-

As I'm an uber-geek this mind mapping software I love this mind mapping software too but it's not terribly MSE!:-

Hope that all makes sense (LOL!).
