SBT - Sainsburys Visa - check statements!!

From my exprience (outlined below) check your statements very carefully in relation to interest.

I took a 0% SBT from Sainsburys Visa in June for five months and was told on the phone the five months was from that date I carried out the SBT - taking me to mid November. The letter regarding the offer reflected this period too.

Paid it all off (a bit early) at the end of October and thought that was the end of it.

Statement in today - nearly £25 in interest. To be fair to Sainsburys they have refunded this interest with no hassle or complaints. However it appears the computer has taken the SBT interest free period from the first day the offer was available 10th May 04, so no matter when the offer was taken out after this the period (on the computer) started on the 10th May 04.

This does appear to be a genuine mistake by Sainsburys and they quickly fixed it, however if i hadnt checked and noticed I would be nearly £25 down for no reason.

Hope this helps others that used the offer and may have been over charged

    Hi,

    I didn't even know that u can do SBT's with Sainsburys? ???
  • I held a Sainsbury's Visa card until about 6 weeks ago - don't they have a table at the bottom of the paper statement detailing the end dates of the offers?

I caught the end of the 0% on purchases and balance transfers back in mid July, for 9 months. My statement told me it ended in April, from when the account was opened. Not from when it was transferred.

If my statement did I thought all would.

You should read your terms & conditions but should not assume that other people have the same T&Cs as you?

You are wrong to assume bounceback. I am in a different position to you - this offer was on an account i have held for a long time, not a new account. My statement just had 0.000% per month and didnt give an end date. The end date was worked out wrongly by Sainbury's.
  • Read above and you will see I was explaining the offer I was on.

I'm not stupid - I knew it wouldn't be the same as the original poster.

I did say 'wouldn't it be the same for all' when it comes to the dates of offers ending, as I thought it would be unusual for them to do it for some and not others. It turns out that in this case they have.

Nice try, do try again another time.
