Surestart Free Childcare Places - Is there such thing??

I thought you were talking about a surestart centre, and only just realised that you meant surestart gives the funding for the nursery places elsewhere.
If you want her to keep the link with school and with the friends made in the nursery then why not send her for 5 sessions instead of 3? at the moment she would get 7.5 hours free, and you pay for 1.5 extra if you wish to - but you could have 12.5 hours of free education anyhow'bad mothers club' member 13

I'm a bit perplexed about why you think the nursery should pay for the extra provision from your child, or provide her with a free lunch. They'll get money from the government to cover the basic free sessions and anything on top of this has to be funded from somewhere. If you don't want to pay extra then just take her home earlier, or, as others have suggested, look into whether you can claim tax credits etc to cover the extra cost.
I'm not sure where I said that I expect the pre school to pay for the extra or give her a free lunch????? I wouldn't want her to stay for lunch anyway! You misunderstand me. I'm quite happy for the 2.5 hours if their sessions fit around that. They don't. My point is that I feel under pressure to pay the additional amounts and that's something I cannot afford. I think I explained why I found it difficult to take her home earlier....they don't exactly make it easy.
I would not expect tax credits to pay for the extra as I am not working.
