I am resigned to the fact I won't know this until I call my branch Monday morning.

Be wary if they say you can keep the account. I don't think there is any known person on this forum who has been able to keep a Yorkshire account. If they say you can keep it, I would still open another account at Coop or Barclays and put all my money in there and then see what happens to your Yorkshire account. Better safe than sorry.

Many thanks, yes I totally agree but because of the time scale regarding my wages i would prefer to let it happen just this month then sort out an alternative account for next month.
I have a question , If my account is closed at Yorkshire Bank and my wages dept at work cannot stop the BACS payment to this account what will happen and what is the appropriate action for me to take ?

    thanks

That happened last week to someone at Halifax. Their account was frozen and their OR had to fax Halifax to say it was okay to release the money.

Well that is poor. What you will have to watch out for now is that they don't try to charge you for the overdraft an returned dd:eek:

Your wages payment should just bounce back to your work. Hubby had this when we moved bank and his wages department used wrong details.

Just have a word with your wages department. They usually send request 4 days before payment due in your account.

thanks Dalip, fortunately no D/D's have been returned they are all set up for pay day. So they have been cancelled beforehand. As for the overdrawn balance they can get in the queue with the rest of em !!!!!!
Get me out, thanks I have talked to HR at work, its too late to stop it going to Yorkshire bank and when it gets returned to employers account she will send it again to any bank account I give her. This all means I will get my wages approximately 1 week late. I have a friend that will let me pay the money in this month. I have applied at Co-Op and Barclays but none of them can give me a decision sooner than 7 days.
