Extension - who do I need to tell?

I am doing an extension to my house. I have got planning permission, building regs, done the party wall act, etc. However, do I need to tell the bank (i.e. who provide the mortgage) as essentially they own the house, don't they?
.....also, do I need to tell the house insurance people .....as I assume the house will potentially be exposed for a day......or the insurer in their infinite paranoid state as they may assume the house will be unstable?

You do need to tell your insurers.
It won't hurt to tell the bank, but they do not own your house. You own your house. They advanced the money in return for a mortgage charge being registered on the title (and the other details like you repaying the advance with interest - details like that).0 -
I would only think that your insurers need to be informed, (i'm pretty paranoid about insurance and they will try and get out of things if they can (God forbid something should happen) Maybe also for your future policy as they are essentially insuring a larger property and so the value of the building will have increased. I bet they will try and increase your premium.0
