I'm about to set up my laptop on wireless, can't decided between a netgear or belkin modem/router, and wondered if any one had had any particular issues setting up with Tiscali that I need to take into account. (I'm leaving my desktop as it is.)
The laptop is a sony vaio BX51VN T7250 160GB VB, if that makes any difference, and I'm hoping to do it without having to make myself understood on the useles tiscali helpline.
Cheers.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I was given an ancient router by a friend of mine.
After doing a hard-reset to remove all of his configuration information, I contacted Tiscali to get their specific router settings and went through the set-up wizard on the router giving it all the relevant bits.
The only problem I had was that it wouldn't auto-detect some of the stuff so I went through manual configuration and all went fine.
Only piece of advice I can give is to take your time.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

With Tiscali, it helps to ring up at different times of the day to get help.
Sometimes you will be lucky enough to get a NILDRAM employee rather than a Tiscali one. There is no need to ring Tiscali for simple things like router setting e.g. here. I would say that Netgear routers are better than Belkin. Belkin may have a lifetime warranty but some say that it's because they need one! Even if they will supply you with a replacement, it is inconvenient to wait for one. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I've just 'upgraded' to an 8meg line and I got a free wireless router as part of the deal, but only if I stay with Tiscali for another year.

I use a wired netgear DG834 with tiscali. I've not had any problems with the combination.

I got the free router from Tiscali, had no problems whatsoever, just link it with your laptop. I do wish that something could be done about the customer service though, it always gets me really angry, and does a lot of other customers too, is there nothing we can do, somebody out there must have the answer, what is it the operators are doing when they put you on hold, I was on the phone for 40 minutes the other day and was put on hold about 6 times each time for 2 or 3 minutes. Is this a scam to generate more money through call time, does anyone know.:mad:0
