T-mobile refused to offer contact

Hi

I am both confused and P~~sed off that T-Mobile have refused to upgrade my wife from a PAYG mobile to a contract deal. They say is is because we have failed their credit credit.

We have a clean credit record. We overpay our mortgage each month, clear our credit card each month and have savings. They said they couldn't tell me why the contract had been declined and we should contact Equifax, who they use for credit searches.

I have a theory as to why it could have been rejected and would appreciate it if anyone can confirm this for me: We built our own home in 2002 and when we moved in we told the banks our address was ABC House, Rear of 106 - 108 XXX Road. Two years later the local council eventually signed off the build and told Royal Mail etc our address was ABC House, DEF Court, XXX Road (they added in the Court and dropped the Rear of part of our address).

When I apply for car insurance etc i do have some problems. I use the later address and then get the company to amend it to the first option. I am reluctant to change my address to later option as the DEF Court is not recorded on OS maps etc and, as i visit people as part of my job, i know it is easier to find a house if you have a number it is near in the road.

Could it be the credit application was rejected because the address used by T-Mobile did match our recorded bank address?

Please move if the post is not in the correct location.

Thanks

  • possibly, a no show on the electoral roll is almost a immediate decline.

They usually just ask for you house number/name and the post code, if they put this into the computer would it come up with your correct address?

Thanks, didn't think of that. House name and postcode only would be OK as it is only lines two and three of our address that cause a problem.

Due to our jobs we have both declined to go on the "commercial" list and we are only on the voting list. So I guess as Equifax couldn't verify our residency (even though i have a mortgage on my file at the address) T-Mobile refused the contact.

Funny I managed to order a new laptop this week which i would have thought was more likely to be fraudulently obtained......although it the seller did make additional checks before confirming the laptop order.

Try a different network. They use different agencies, so you dont always get the same decision and you can take your number network to network anyway

Just contacted O2 and Vodaphone both use the same system and we are unlikely to pass either companies credit test.

Have decided to email T-Mobile for an explanation and have sent £2.00 each to Equifax for our credit files.

T-Mobile have contacted me and advised us to requesting in writing the reason for their rejection. I thought that was the purpose of e-mail!!! anyway i have posted them a letter.

Equifax have requested we send them ID and address verification before they will release our reports. Funny they never wanted that back in 2001 when i requested my report.

try 3. you need you're debit or credit card and you also need to give them the address as it's registered with your bank as that's how they credit check you. then, if there's a slight variation in the address and you pass, log onto you're account online and amend you're address!
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
  • It's bound to be an address issue, once you get your credit report you can look at all of the details they have and then get them to amend it, once that's done there should be no problems. If this is the case, remember to do the same with Experian, as most companies tend to use them as opposed to Equifax.

And 3 are very good at giving out contracts, I had adverse credit a few years back (2 satisfied CCJ's but still on my record at that time) and they were prepared to offer me 4 contracts.

Got our credit reports - no obvious problems on either file, half our accounts are missing!!!.

Called T-Mobile as they hadn't replied to the letter. I must confess this is this first time T-Mobile had got stroppy with me, probably because I chose to tell them I was a fraud investigator (LOL) and questioned them about the credit check. In the end they simply refused to answer my questions.

Sod it I thought. I called O2 to order a SIM only package. They use Equifax and we passed the O2 credit check. I gave them only the first line and postcode of my address and left them to match it. I can ask them to alter it later to my preferred listing.

Called T-Mobile for the PAC code and they wanted to know why we wanted to leave........
