I think the first step is for you & your OH to sit down & make a plan about your income / expoenditure in the coming months -
It's not clear from your post if your OH is going to contribute to the upkeep of his children / their home if he is earning a decent wage? If not why not?

We have discussed what he will be able to pay - we used the CSA website to calculate it all, so he will be contributing to the upkeep of his daughter (the elder two are mine from a previous marrige, and their father pays towards their upkeep).
