Hi folks, we are coming to Cardiff next week for the R.E.M. concert.:j

Not having been to Cardiff before I thought I'd ask here for recommendations on somewhere to grab a nice late lunch, somewhere around the Marriott in Mill Lane and Cardiff international arena?

I know it's not very MSE to travel all that way to see a band, :o but thought I'd save a bit of money by not paying over the odds arena prices for food.

thanks in advance.:D

Only one I can see in Monchino's across the road - the food looks reasonably priced, but it seems to offer a breakfast menu AND it's a nightclub??

There's loads of restaurants in the Brewery Quarter too. La Tasca is lovely and the website offers a money off voucher.

There's about 20 restaurants within 20 metres of the Cardiff Marriott!

    You'll have no trouble.

And if you want really cheap, follow your nose another 5 metres (ish) to chippy lane ;)

As others have said, there are loads around of all tastes and price ranges - do you have a budget in mind or a preferred type of restaurant?

If you like Thai food try Thai Edge on corner of Brewery Quarter & Caroline St. Not cheap, but food is good.
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

Chippy lane sounds wonderful!! Where is it?:D

We like fajitas, plain food (burger, chips, roast chicken) DH likes a kebab if it's after midnight!

I'm happy to hear there are loads of eateries over from the Marriott - it's hard to see from above in Google earth! - is that the Mill Lane side then?

thanks - getting all excited now, less than a week to go, I've never been to Wales before! Shame it's such a short visit.

Chippy lane is Caroline Street - it's chippy after chippy so your OH can get his kebab fix! It's about 2 minutes walk (if that) from Mill Lane.

There's a Las Iguanas on Mill Lane - the fajitas are fab ;)

Or a bit further down St Mary Street there's a huge Wetherspoons ;)

Oh, and have a great time!!

We like fajitas, Chiquitas in the brewery quarter - about 200 metres or Old Orleans about another 100 metres further -

plain food (burger, chips, roast chicken) plenty of possibilities

as has been said, you can walk through Caroline Street (an experience in itself) from the Stadium back to the Marriott

    Enjoy the visit:beer:

as has already been said, plenty of choice. in the brewery quarter alone you have lots of big chains like hard rock cafe, lava lounge, chiquitos and nandos to name just a few.

THIS LINK may also help, as all are within a 15 minute walk from the marriott.

do be warned that large parts of cardiff city centre are currently undergoing a MASSIVE facelift, so you may find that roads/paths that appear on google earth and maps are not currently accessible. if you want any help with directions, or even with ideas of other things to do whilst you're here, just shout and we will happily oblige :j
