QuickStep all the way - go to all the local places you can, get a written note of the price and then go to Floors2Go and look, it's what I did - and he offered (foolishly) to beat any local price by 10% (I'd already beaten one down from £35 to £22 a pack) and free delivery to the surrounding 3 counties (I got him to include 1 mile around the edges).....
So £35 down to £19.80 and free delivery over 60 miles away
Edit: A Rubber Mallet seems best for hitting the knocking in tools - about £4 from B&Q/similar.There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -
Don't forget to buy some knee pads!0

Just had quickstep installed in my hallway and lounge - fantastic finish - good underlay and personally have gone for the one with grooves and grain in although more expensive looks like wood is not super slippy like the flat shiny stuff0

Hi I agree that Quick-step flooring is really good. :j
We have got the 'perspective range' in Dark Varnished Cherry in our lounge/dining room and also in our bedrooms.
We borrowed some different colours of the flooring from the shop to try in our house, the ones we liked in the shop looked awful in the house whereas the colour we choose complimented our furniture.
I would not go back to carpet now as its so much easier to keep clean. Yesterday a friend came over and her daughter dropped her drink and food on the floor and it was easily cleaned up.
Good luck in finding your flooring:wave: Stebbie xx0 -
If you look at room photos in estate agents windows, here at the end of 2005, it seems most houses on the market have laminate flooring, rather than carpets or anything else. But isn't this fad coming to an end? Aren't carpets better than clunking around on synthetic (plastic) wood-look flooring? It looks so artificial. Whether in 2006 or later, I bet all the TV makeover programmes will soon be encouraging everyone to pull up their laminate flooring.
