  • Difficult one as it could just as easily be the charger to be honest. If you have a multimeter then you could check the battery voltage before charging, during charging and when the green light comes on, which should indicate the faulty part.

My son used to have an electric jeep and the charger went on that after about 18 months, although it was more obvious as you could smell it had burnt out. The batteries lasted about 3 years before they needed to be replaced. You will probably have to go back to the manufacturer and pay over the odds although you can get similar parts from Maplin if you're willing to mess about changing over charger/battery plugs etc. Cost me £80 for two 6V batteries and a charger 3-4 years ago from Maplin.

  • I had this problem with my scooter (Adly). The problem was with a thing called a voltage control regulator which is part of the bike itself. A new one cost about £5. Does the scooter still work if you kick start it? Mine did, but when the battery died I had no indicators or break lights working, and it only started on kick start.

I thought mine was a battery problem as well, but tried two batteries and a new charger before we found the problem.
