My OH has been accepted to Uni on a paramedical sciences diploma, a 2 year course. I am currently on maternity leave until 12th Nov (the full year so no SMP after August). His course is fee free, and he can claim a bursary (No idea how much). We have 2 children aged 4 years and 8 months.
I have spotted a degree 4 year course I would like to do that I can apply for through clearing. It is also fee free and I can claim a bursary (again no idea how much). I already have a degree in an unrelated subject.
I am finding it difficult to figure out what we would be entitled to claim if we were both students, and obviously I would need to know before I went too far ahead as we have kids/rent/bills to pay for.
My eldest child will be at school full time from September, I would have to put my youngest in childcare approx £25 a day.
If anyone can shed any light on what an approximate income per annum might be I would be very grateful.
P.S We are not married, just living in Sin
:D
P.P.S We are both 'mature'(;)) students.

Are you using Firefox ?, if so try the site in Internet Explorer as the calculator does not work in firefox.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

If your both F/T students then you wont pay council tax - you need to contact the local council when you become a student and ask for a Class N exemption.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. Are you sure that you'll get funding for further study as you already have a degree? What are you hoping to do that's fee free and lasts four years?0 -
No I'm not sure at all! I'm thinking of doing BSc Audiology, the 3rd year is a paid NHS placement, but the course itself is fee free. It's the bursary bit that I'm not sure about as I have done a degree but didn't get a bursary, just a student loan. I know I will not qualify for another Student Loan.2008 wins £4405 2009 wins £7194 2010 wins £9615

I know that you can get a bursary for a nursing course after already having a degree, so I imagine that this is similar.
Have you had a look at this website?
www.nhspa.gov.uk/sgu/
It gives a lot of information on bursaries and childcare allowances, along with a helpline number. I think you'll find most of what you need here. Good luck.0
