Need advice about separation/divorce .

Hi I am needing some advice for a male coleauge at work , he is seriously depressed and confused , His wife told him a few weeks ago that she wasn't happy and didn't know what she wanted they have 2 children . He was totally shocked as this came out of the blue .Well she has now decided she is leaving him and taking the 2 young children with her .
He's now on anti depressants and feels no reason to carry on living he has so much on his mind he doesn't know what to do .I have advised him to talk to her and see if it really is the end .
What he wants to know is where he stands financially with her and this is where i thought someone may be able to help .she wants to leave him and the maritual home and take the kids . He works and pays for everything and she has a part time job .What will his finacial obligation be???
His kids have told him they don't like him and he is at his lowest ever don't know if his wife has promted them or what but it doesn't seem right .
