I don't think I've said it before, but your comping guide is excellent VG (and others who have contributed too), thanks so much for putting it together
:)
Our bank holiday has been lovely and sunny... went out this afternoon for a burger and a walk - it's been lovely. Hope everyone else is enjoying theirs.Life is all about the journey.0 -

Nah not at all... I didn't know to begin with!
When you post on a thread it moves to the front page of the forum (gets 'bumped' to the front)... so if you put a comment on a thread that was on page 20 it ends up on page 1. This is fine if you are giving useful info such as game over or something like that, but if people who are catching up on comps just put "thanks" or something as a post it gets a bit annoying as the order of the competitions gets all out of sink.
Hope that makes sense... I don't think it does so someone else will have to help!Life is all about the journey.0 -

It doesn't sound thick RockGypsy. If a thread has fallen a few pages back then sometimes the person who posted it thinks it deserves more attention & deliberately posts on it to move it back to the top page again. This can create chaos with people accidentally entering again (as they clicked too quickly to see the 'Thanks' button was already used). It can also be a pain with compers having to wade through loads of old comps to see the news ones which have just been posted which wastes a lot of their precious time when some people only have an hour or so they can enter comps
It isn't only the comp poster that bumps a post though. Sometimes a newer member doesn't realise the impact & just goes into each comp thread & posts something like 'Thanks' or 'thanks for this' or 'entered this one' & that is also cause for concern as it isn't a necessary contribution to the thread like a comment about the T & C or a joke around when it is first posted about what someone would do with a certain prize. it's just pointless as that is what the Thanks button is for
