My win....

A while back I wrote a big thank you to hjb123 for her Real People Magazine answers as I had one a luxury VIP trip to London in association with Slendex. The prize editor of the magazine was as helpful as she could be, but in the end said I would have to sort this out myself as the PR company representing this prize is slow to respond. I emailed the person who is responsible Becky Fung of Media Hub over a week ago, I won this prize over two months ago now and I haven't heard anything from her at all. Luckily Real People also gave me her phone number and I will try to get in contact today.

Overall this has left me wondering if there is a prize at all? The publicity has been done by advertising in a magazine so who cares? Do you think Media Hub and Slendex are trying to wriggle out of this? I don't win prizes very often, this was my first win after 2 years comping, so I don't know if its typical for this type of prize to be difficult to arrange. If I have no luck with this phone call today would it be worth looking into the ISP rules and seeing if the prize givers will wake up?

Apologies for this what turned into a bit of a rant, I'm just not even sure of anything anymore lol!

i'd try ringing the woman at media hub, but keep real people magazine in the loop.

They'll also come off badly if you never get your prize, so i'd've thought should be a bit more concerned about helping you chase it up.

Dont give up on it tho...keep annoying people til you get somewhere. Good luck

I had a similar issue with the Sunday Times style mag. Won tickets, travel and accom to Camp Bestival in Dorset. Emailed me to say I won, then toook ages to get back to me. I ended up emailing them asking what was happening and they acted all suprised that I hadnt got tickets they had posted (dont believe they did). Emailed me fest tickets but no travel - had to contact again, requesting train travel from Leeds. Said they would send tickets to me... still didnt come. Emailed again and said tickets where only from London and they they would post them to me. Complained and they said to book own tickets from Leeds to London and they will reimburse.

This was two days before Festival. Day before festival returned from work and no tickets from London to fest - emailed all addresses I had but all out of office replies. Thought sod this and went anyway buying own tickets from London to Festival. Emailed them to tell them what I had done.

Whilst at fest had voicemail saying sorry and will reimburse. On return to Leeds sent ticket recipts (over £300) Have been reimbursed £220 so far by cheque and still waiting for £84. Fest was over a month ago.

However..... the festival and prize was amazing - my advice would be keep at it, if you have to organise yourself do, as long as you are patient and keep at them. Im pleased I persevered I had the best time! Just a nightmare getting it sorted... would expect better from Sunday times!!

Hi Tae Lia, sorry to hear about the hassle you are having with this win Have you had a look at the Comping Guide at all? In the Winning section, item 7, I have gathered together a few different ways to proceed when you are having this sort of trouble.

I STRONGLY recommend you get in touch & let them know you are now going to contact The Institute of Sales Promotions if they do not give you an update on the situation. The ISP have helped more than a few Compers to get their prize, also just talking about approaching them in some cases is more than enough to make the providers sort it out!

I think with a lot of prizes that they just expect people won't chase up and so they hold off until you do some nagging. I've had a couple of small prizes not arrive, and after I've sent emails they've turned up. In one case I was meant to have won a CD and when I nagged a jiffy bag with 10 CDs in turned up as they no longer had the original CD ... (probably because it had been used to quieten someone else whinging about not receiving a prize!).

I reckon if you've got a phone number things will happen more quickly than nagging over email! Good luck!!!!!
