Our work computer had to be re-formatted a few weeks ago due to a hard drive crash. We had all the work backed up, but the one thing that we lost was our free fax receiving software. We can't for the life of us remember what it was called but we know that it was Freeware and wasn't eFax or any of the others that give you a separate fax number or send the fax to your email address.
All of our faxes come to our normal telephone number, and when we picked up the phone and heard a fax incoming we would click on the icon of a fax machine in the toolbar, click 'receive now' and the fax would be downloaded to a separate program where we could preview/print/delete etc.
It was a great little program, similar to Mighty Fax (which I have never been able to get working!), but the difference was that it ran automatically when we started up the computer so that when we had a fax incoming we didn't have to spend ages opening the program first by which time the fax may have cut off
We've googled until our eyes are blue- does anyone know what this program might be or if there is anything similar around?

Sounds like something Microsoft fax view does... but i doubt thats what it was.
Try MS fax viewer (free, in windows somewhere) It'll need configuring in the control panel though. I haven't personally used it but I'm sure it's simple to set up.Rich0 -

I expect you want Winfax Pro (from your description)
