And your quote for "repairs" required will far outweigh the £26.55 saving on the MOT!Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I agree.its just a way of getting you through the door, complete false economy.places such as this have monthly bonus schemes for employees..the more they sell the more bonus they get.i know,i used to work for a dealer;)And your quote for "repairs" required will far outweigh the £26.55 saving on the MOT!Sorry

The most important factor in choosing where to get an MOT done is finding a garage that you can trust not to invent faults. If you can get the test done for less than the standard price that's a bonus.
Got our car done today for £40 at a local garage. Passed without comment. Will use them again.0 -
Its worth pointing out as i have on another thread that you can appeal against any MOT testers decision by asking for a VT17 appeal form or contact VOSA for the local office number.they will come out and meet you at the site and carry out their own MOT test to see if their findings are similar to the original test.Sorry

Thats the official procedure yes and the fee is refunded if the appeal goes in your favour, however if you contact the local office they sometimes just set up the meet.ive known that to happen a few times.Hi Motmac
That's something I didn't know but I've found a link here
Unless I'm reading it wrong, it sounds as if the VT 17 has to be sent with another MOT fee.
Ive also known situations where the mention of an appeal is enough for the garage to take a sudden u turn:DSorry

Would be quite a good idea for an enterprising garage tho wouldnt you think, just email them a few pics, promise that it really was a good car, stick a few nice crisp £20ies in an envelope and bobs yer uncle a nice new MOT through the post

Before computerisation, it used to be £80 for an MOT from the guy in the local, give him the cash and he'd pop round with the certificate.
There was also once a guy selling blue badges, the regular shop lifters, things you can get in the local pub! :rotfl:0
