Hi Again,
More probs.
Can anyone tell me what causes my System Restore points to disappear?
Have I still got a Virus somewhere?

i have no idea of ur past history with a virus so i dunno about that
i assume u did have one and attempted to get rid of it - some system cleaning software needs to delete system restore points so maybe thats itThe orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.0 -
My system was runing very haphazardly, so I re-installed windows (XP) on the 'C' partition leaving all of the other partitions intact.
I have just run superantispyware to give it a thorough clean. it found about 40+ instances of malware (Low risk) and nothing else.
I also used Ccleaner to clean the registry of installation file remnants Etc. but that's all.
Sys restore use to delete restore points before the re-install too."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -

System Restore is allocated a percentage of the free HDD space to use. Once it exceeds that, it deletes restore points starting with the oldest.0

I formatted drive'C' and re-installed the op sys.
As soon as I re-installed and felt that I had a stable system I created a restore point.
I re-installed a few items of software and creaed a restore point at intervals, to allow me the opportunity(So I thought) of rolling back to a specific time in the re-install process.
Today things were not working as they should. screens locking Etc programs acting strange (Comodo not letting me load Adobe and STILL not when I closed it down) . ETc.
About to go into safe mode now to finish that install."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0
