Virgin landline phone problem

My mum's phone is out of order. She is on Virgin & when we rang them yesterday (Thurs) to report the fault they said someone will call on Monday morning. She is 75 living on her own & shouldn't be without a phone. But Virgin seemed unable to bring forward this appointment when I explained the circumstances.
Does anyone have any advice on contacting Virgin? A number for the UK could be helpful - they wouldn't give out a number to speak directly to a uk service centre.
Any advice would be welcome!
Thanks

This number is for their reception, I don't know if you have already tried it, but they should be able to put you through to someone in authority, although it is getting perilously close to the weekend.

HappyMrs G, no help to youi at present, but read this thread, same problem
BT & Virgin do have a "prioritise" list, but you need to be on it before the phone goes wonky, details here

Thanks for both of these replies. I will look into the priority scheme. To update you, Virgin phoned me today & they are coming out tomorrow, Saturday. Apparently they had a cancelled appointment.0

Virgin came out today & fixed the phone in 2 mins. Apparently a box a couple of streets away had been vandalised.0
