Beware of Tesco Wild Alaskan Salmon fillets. These are on offer at half price 8 for £5.
When I opened the packet each fillet is wafer thin and individually wrapped in plastic. Printed on the packet is "Produce of China"

Nothing wrong with being individually wrapped , but I too noticed that the salmon was very thin and even at that price I did not buy them! Makro has a much better deal on at the moment - really good size fillets, about 7 to a bag for 6.99 (appreciate not everyone can go to Makro)I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes

Can you be a bit more specific as to of what to 'beware'? (Perhaps the grammar police can put that in a better order for me!)
Is it that they are 'wild'? Or thin? Or in plastic (eco-unfriendly)? Or that the packet is produced in China?0 -
Did the salmon fillet go wild when it realised it was no longer in Alaska when you opened the packet?0

I think you have to beware as they should be called "wafer thin tame chinese salmon fillets" :rolleyes:AKA: PC

How dangerous can a " Wild Alaskan Fillet" be ?0

What I judge by is not the thickness but the weight it says on the packet-the cost per kilo! Thats what counts!Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0

It's not wild - it's blooming furious!! Wouldn't you be? Getting caught :eek:and landing up in someone's freezer??
I wouldn't pay full price for these, but have bought some at half price and they were tasty.... quite small, but tasty nonetheless! Anyway, they're half price so you can have twice as much :rotfl:0 -

By that sort of reckoning the cheap tiny frozen prawns are a much better buy than the large plump ones which are 2 or 3 times the price; or broken biscuits are better because they are half the price?
That's a retailer's dream!
The size & shape of any number of food products is EVERYTHING, for one thing size or thickness even affects how well something cooks as well as how it look. SOME misshaped or ill shaped products are a great buy, and I am first in the queue to buy them, depending on what I plan to do with them after - but this sort of thing affects the value very much, and retailers know that only too well.
If you are going to be making something like fish cakes with it, thin salmon won't even be noticed, but if it's for serving as steaks, it isn't going be very appetising :-(0 -
Basically I am warning people that they are cr?p.
Cr?p, size, taste cr?p, shrivel down to nothing when cooked and come from China
They may be half price but half price cr?p is still cr?pComping 2008 wins £4842 2009 wins £950.50 2010 Wins £140 2011 £00
