Turned Down By Virgin

in Credit cards
Just applied for a Virgin credit card and for the first time in 20 years been turned down for credit. All they gave me was a letter saying that they had done their checks at Equifax and couldn't offer me a card
Got my credit file and credit score from Equifax and Experian, both come up as good (447 on equifax and 955 on Experian). The only default showing on my account is 2 late payments on by Barclaycard which were 18 months apart. On both occasions the late payment was paid straight away and accrding to my records I have never been more than one month in arrears.
Never missed a payment on my mortgage or loans so are VIRGIN particularly picky.
Can anyone advise of a decent 0% transfer card which isn't as picky as Virgin/MBNA
Cheers

MBNA (who run virgin) are getting much pickier about who they approve. if you have a number of old cards with combined limits of more than 50% of your salary, they appear to be refusing you as a 0% rate tart or just too much of a credit risk.
Suggest you close or reduce credit limits on unused cards and then try reapplying.
Do you already have MBNA cards (abbey, a&L) you have 'gamed' in the past too? That will probably pop up on their system as well.
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
