How far in advance do you book a venue?

  • I suppose a lot depends on the popularity of the venue, I have read on another wedding forum that some venues are booking 3 years in advance for Summer Saturdays!
We are going to my daughters' chosen venue next week to book winter 2010!
If you want a paricular venue - book as soon as possible (then you've got plenty of time to work out your money saving ideas;) )

If you have a particular date and venue that you want then it is never too soon to book. We got engaged in February this year and started visiting venues straightaway. We wanted an August 2009 Saturday wedding, and our first choice venue was already booked for all Saturdays in June, July & August..and this was 18 months in advance! My second choice (which we have now booked) only had 1 saturday left in August so we put down the deposit immediately.

The same applied for other parts of the wedding. The DJ I really wanted was booked, and I enquired with him in April 2008!!
  • We booked our venue 18mths before our date and we still had to change our original date by a few weeks x
