PLAYING DVDs ON WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER

Options
Hello

My friend has a laptop with Windows Vista as the operating system. It has both Windows Media Player (version 11) and Real Player installed.

His problem is that he used up all his chances (4 or 5 I think) to change the region code of the DVDs he watches on Windows Media Player. It is now stuck on the last region that he selected.

Is there any way around this? Would uninstalling Windows Media Player then reinstalling it make any difference? Or uninstalling then reinstalling an earlier version?

I also wanted to ask if DVDs can be played on Real Player (as he has this also), and if so does Real Player only offer a limited number of chances to change a region code?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

what was the last region he played it on that its now locked to?

and its the DVD drive thats now locked NOT windows media player (WMP has nothing to do with the locking)

type the make and model in google with unlock or dvd unlock

there is software outthere that can remove it but for the life of me i can't remember

  • Hello Cat695

Thank you for your super fast reply. I think that it is now locked onto Region 1 as it was a DVD from the US.

Thank you also for explaining that it's the DVD drive and not the player which is locked. I'll try and find out the make and model from him and do as you suggest.

I'm not ignorant to that fact, but it's pretty well established that this forum isn't for talking about subjects that are dodgy
