capital one (need some help)

i got a capitalone card
5 months intrest free (still within the intrest free)

planned to pay the sum off after the intrest free expires

i created a online account when i got the card and it said first payment due august
so i set up a direct debit (in july) month i got the card

i get a text message saying i missed a payment in july even so it doesnt show on my online account. so they charge me 12.80 and they will be taking payment for July/august

£35

now is it normal for them to send 3 text messages
and call 6 times (even so it was suppose to be sorted on the first text message)

anyone else have this problem? and how did you resolve this?

Sounds like a simple problem encountered here, but you need to be a little more specific about the due date and the direct debit before it can be answered properly.

on my online account all it has is august 12th payment date
and they say i missed a payment (but that payment date never showed up on my online account) which i set up as soon as i got the card.

i set up a direct debit within days and a month before payment is due (as it shows on my online report)

so they are saying i missed a payment in July

anyhow they send me a text and i resolve the issue, i get charged 12.80, i say ok
direct debits set up, take the money in august then for both months ,

after that i get a call every 2-3 days (6 in total this month and end of last) and 3 text messages. is it normal for them to keep on calling someone when the issue has been resolved.

No, they obviously still have some sort of issue. I think you will have to speak with them to determine what precisely they have an issue with.

Ok so when did you actually open the account ? What is the date on your acceptance letter ?
I think the reason they're calling you is because they want you to make a payment now (the one they say you missed) and they probably won't stop until you do, or at least discuss it with them. They won't take two direct debits together.

    payments gone through
    lets see what happens
  • Did you set the Direct Debit up through the card company or through your bank?

From the sounds of it, and I'm not the best qualified on here to tell you, you've set up a standing order from your bank to pay out on the 12th (which then takes so many days to clear through to the card company and shows on your statement today) rather than setting up a DD with the card company authorising them to take the money on the payment due date.

You still haven't said when you opened the account or set the DD up ?
