help! curtains have shrunk

just got back from the dry cleaners who cleaned our curtains, and on hanging the curtains have found that they have unevenly shrunk, but the lining hasnt, so there is now 4" of lining showing at the bottom. The dry cleaners have said they will try to 'relax' the curtains on a steam table but there is nothing more I can do. Can anyone tell me where I stand, and to what extent the dry cleaners are liable? I did sign to accept 'there may be a small amount of shrinkage' before they were cleaned.

My curtains did the same after washing them. If the curtain is still long enough to cover the window sill then you can just fold up the bottom of the lining to shorten it and tack it with a few stitches.0

Same happened to me in dry cleaners .Will never take curtains again I`d rather wash them.Better result even when it says dry clean only.0

I had this same problem - although it was my fault as i didn't follow the wash instruction. I bought some contrasting material and sewed a panel on the bottom of curtains, i used the same material to make cushion covers. I like the version of my curtains even better and my bedroom never looked so good.
My friend had the same problem with a dry cleaners (thats why i didnt risk them) she managed to lower her curtain pole so that the curtains became long enoughLife isn't about waiting for the storm to pass,it's about learning to dance in the rain.0
