Cancelling credit cards

Hi all,

I've just been cancelling some credit cards, and I phoned up Goldfish, who are in the process of moving to barclaycard. When I stated I wanted to terminate my card they offered to credit my account with £20, and asked me to wait until I had read the new terms for barclaycard, before considering cancelling.

This is the first time this has happened to me with CCs and wondered if anyone else was aware. I know its quite routine if your want to change mobiles or broadband etc, they'll usually of you a deal but not with CCs

Well they do quite often offer something, but it is usually a promotional interest rate, so a straight forward credit to the account is quite rare.

I'm getting the impression Barclaycard want to hang on to the Goldfish customers.
