Returning clothing the iron burnt a hole through...

I bought a shirt last week from H&M - still have receipt. Worn once, it's not been washed, went to give it a quick iron this morning, literally touched the thing with the iron and a huge hole burnt straight through it like it was paper. Checked the ironing instructions - nothing special and iron was on normal setting
Now im wondering if its worth me returning it to H&M and asking for an exchange or will they say no as theres no way of knowing how long I kept the iron on it etc (even though it was literally seconds
)
Any opinion would be welcome!

Sounds to me like a fault and something that shouldn't happen. So you're in your right to return it. Whether they believe you or not is not something I can't predict (and probably nor anyone else here). They'll probably want to send it for testing first which is fair. As a thought (no idea if it's pointless or not) but try ironing it again but get someone to video you and show the settings on the iron etc. Then you have your own "test result" as well in case there's any dispute as to whether it's "user error"."She is quite the oddball. I didn't think shops would accept a return if it's been worn unless it's faulty.0

Getting destroyed after following proper treatment/ironing instructions is my definition of faulty."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I agree with that, but my point was that the OP was intending to return it anyway.0

I can't see that in the post. First mention of returning it is after the hole was burned through it and they want it exchanged not a refund."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

You are correct - I would have no intention of returning it if I didnt believe it to be faulty - I would be wearing today otherwise!
I think I might give it a try this weekend - havent got anything to lose really0 -
My mistake, I misread it. Sorry! :embarasse0

i would take it back.
if you are not supposed to iron it - it should say do not iron or cool iron on the instructions. if it doesnt instruct you then i think you should take it back for a replacement and ask them how you are supposed to iron the new one too.0 -
If I worked in a clothes shop and someone asked me "what setting do I use to iron this?", I'm afraid I'd have to give them a blank stare - me and irons don't get on too well at the moment.
I'm thinking of saving up for a 25 quid no ironing needed shirt, think of the leccy I'd save on not ironing the bleeding thing... :think:0
