Here goes, Just want to know whats the best experience you have had on eBay could be anything from winning a bargain, selling something that you would have thought wouldnt sell in a million years, making a small fortune out of something you picked up from carboot for a few pound or it could be simply anything at all since you started using eBay ?, (pick the most interesting one you like and give me a bit of info about it) and the worst experience or thing you have been through or seen on eBay. whether it was 10 years ago or 10 seconds ago, something that youll always remember.
Well the best bargain for me was, when i bought 3 satellite boxes and ended up paying £60 delivered for the lot last year, 2 were faulty and one was working. Was going to keep faulty ones as backups for parts. So what happened was i recieved the 2 faulty ones, but the main one which was fully working, got lost at royal mail somewhere or postman left it on his van roof and drove off. God knows what happened to it, i just didnt hear anything about it from royal mail, plus the seller unregistered himself some reason, even though he had pretty good feedback. Which left me stranded and I ended up thinking to myself i got ripped of as faulty boxes were no good to me, i couldnt repair 2 boxes which had same problem. I ended up putting them on ebay within a hour or two someone bought them and paid instantly. and i ended up recieving double for what i paid for the lot after fees etc. i think it was £150. so taking postage £20 plus the fees £10 i got £120 for them both. So turned out to be good in the end. (also i didnt put the price high to make up for the one i lost, some reason the two faulty ones were really worth that much, found out after a bit of research lol)
the phrase "you win some, you lose some" really shows in the next bit
Worst would be when i got scammed a new xbox 360 from a seller on ebay last year, thats the worst thing that could ever happen to anyone, getting scammed, after a week or two's wait i think i recieved £100 give or take a few pound from paypal when actual item was about £140. He/she robbed about 10 others aswell, thinking they were going to be going on a shopping spree with our money, but in the end paypal recovered what they could and i think handed us all a similar amount of cash. So wont ever forget that.
Not been on for a while so i thought i should best tuck in again and make a new post. If mods arent happy with it
, could be removed if wished . just a bit of fun and time pass. plus people could learn from others mistakes and try avoiding situations others have had into their own problems. cheers

My last purchase was pretty nice. Bought a mint condition PSP with 7 games and a 1 GB memory stick for £88 (mostly to save my sanity on long flights). After winning the auction I noticed the seller was in Belfast and I was going there the next day, so we traded emails and arranged to meet.
We met up and I mentioned that I didn't really like any of the games he had with it, so I would probably just put them all back on eBay again. He said I could swap them for some of his other games and produced a huge box full of PSP games. So I swapped the seven low value games for the two GTA games and Metal Gear Solid, all which I was going to buy anyway. All in all, it would have cost me about £170 to buy everything I got new, and I have seen used PSPs sell for over £100 on eBay with no games, so I think I got a pretty good deal.
I paid him cash, we shook hands, and off I went with my new PSP, 12 hours after winning the auction. If only all eBay transactions were like that.0 -
Hi have bought many things on Ebay - one of my best was my Ercol 3 piece suite.
Really needed a new one as had a sagging and paint splattered hand me down leather one from my parents.
The ad said it had been recovered and restuffed a year ago, which costs a fortune and brings it up to fire regs. Love my retro. Bidding started at 99p no reserve, pick up only.
I put in a speculative snipe and to my amazement I won!!! For 99p!! Paid via Paypal instantly so the poor guy must of cleared all of 70p for a as new 3 piece suite.
See what you think - I know its a bit Marmite but I love it and even the people who say they hate it grudgingly admit how comfy it is!!

Unfortunately it was pick up only and 130 miles away- to hire a van would have cost £90+ then fuel and a vital Christmas Saturday wasted. I got a courier man and van off Ebay for £140. Wasn't complaining £141 for an expensive quality make in excellent condition and nice and retro.
After selling my old leather on Ebay for about £90 It only really cost me £50. My local auctioneer said I would get at least £300 for my new suite if I put it in.
BAD
Had a few. Worst was when I sold a Samsung multi region dvd player. Started at £1.99 and sold for that. Gypsies bought it and constantly phoned at all hours to pick it up waking me when I was pregnant - phoning when in from pub etc. Eventually picked it up - I offered to demonstrate but they refused - worked fine and wanted to prove. They then left negative feedback and kept on with the threatening absuive phone calls until I had to get my number changed. All over £2 and I didn't even give them my number -Ebay did!!
My partner bought a DJ mixer described as Mint etc. Seller had good feedback. Mixer arrived and had many faults and it didn't even have the right power supply unit!!- basically knackered!! We immediately pay when we win. Contacted seller who was very evasive telling us to buy a new PSU - basically spend another £20+ on the off chance that might work. Opened dispute and he eventually accepted return and got price paid back but not return postage - which was expensive.
He deserved a negative and got one - yet I got retaliatory for him selling faulty rubbish!!
I really hate Ebays contempt for the user and I really hope they have to pay the fine that has been imposed. They know that the majority of designer clothes and DVDs are counterfeit. How can individuals be selling new release DVDs for £8 when Play, Amazon and Tesco can't? How can people be selling Lacoste polo shirts for £15 when they sell for £50 in the shops!!0 -
My best sale was a pair of MBT trainers that I picked up in local charity shop for £3 - they sold for £101!!! Quite a percentage profit!!
As for my bad experiences as a seller I think I have been extremely lucky - with a feedback of >1250 I have only had a handful of non-payers, one item broken on delivery and 2 items not received (one who did get nasty but I stuck to the rules which is what she didn't like!)
So, all in all a very positive experience - just hope it lasts! On a mission to banish our credit card debts

Mother-in-law bought a silver pin cushion years ago at a car boot for 50p - I sold that for £260
Mum bought a bag from car boot for 50p - I sold that for £46
My best was a pair of vintage 80s designer shoes I bought and then sold for £109
I've only had one real g!t of a buyer on ebay. He received his parcel but claimed not to have (even though he could give an exact description of its packaging) then claimed his money back through PayPal. PayPal gave it back straight away as he went from dispute to claim within minutes so I could not respond. Thankfully I got my money back from Royal Mail but he tried to stop that by not responding to them (if you claim with RM they write to buyer asking if parcel received, if they get no response they will not refund you). I then filed a fraud charge with PayPal against him so he had no choice but to reply to RM.
I got the better of him in the end and he has since been kicked off ebay.:D Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -
My best sale ever was my OH's Iron Maiden badge. (I managed to convince him that now he was married he ought to give up on that sort of thing.:D) Another one the same had sold the week before for £5, so I thought It'd be worth trying to sell, even though the back pin was missing. It went for £35.
I miss those days when people use to go crazy bidding for stuff!:www: :: MFi3 ::
