Virgin email outage

Virgin Media is yet again suffering from an email outage. Does anybody know what has caused this this time around? By morning, it will have been virtually 24 hours offline.
In previous outages, not all emails sent to me and by me have arrived. What happens to that missing data?

go on their website and it will tell you why its outIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
Well, it will tell you that their is an outage due to technical problems, but does anybody know what these are? Virgin has one or two of these annually and it can take up to 48 hours to solve. They have had problems of late with vast amounts of return receipts from email addresses in Russia, which supposedly were sent from Virgin email addresses, but clearly weren't. This never happened in the past. What's going on?0

If you want a definitive answer then you'll have to get on the Virgin Media Technical Support Newsgroup which is where a lot of the engineers post, often explaining in technical details exactly what has happened and been done to resolve it.
I'd seriously consider moving away from your Virgin Media email account, even when I was working with them (ex NTL) their email service was constantly dogged with issues.0 -
So why don't you use ISP independent e-mail accounts. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

My sympathies Roger. This is my third day without email and the second long outage in only a few months. I wonder if other providers inflict their customers with such lack of service.0

My third day without email either although the virgin net mail online is now working.
At least they have accepted they have a problem this time, they usually try and pretend it is just a few users having problems because it is something we've done!
The serice status hasn't been particularly useful though just the usual nonsense about a slight technical issue which they are working on to correct.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Webmail is now back up, but old emails are still being held somewhere for the moment!
Bizarrely, Virgin sent an email to me, which I couldn't open because I couldn't access my outed email!!! This explained the following, in less than perfect English....
"We apologize for the email service interruption that you have been experiencing since yesterday. We continue to work to get you full access to all your mail as soon as we can.
In the meantime, you now have access to new, incoming email through webmail only. Old mail (if you stored it on the server), is safe and you will see it once service is fully restored.
You can send mail as usual.
Until email is fully restored, you will not be able to use desktop email programs like Outlook Express to send or receive email. Once email service is restored, you'll again see your older mail in webmail (if you stored it on the server) and your desktop email program will begin working again as usual.
We appreciate your patience as we work to restore full service."
How can I have stored email on the server? Surely Virgin do that? What is that supposed to mean?0 -
Strangely, my parents still use their old @ntlworld.com email from before virgin took them over, and their email has been running fine.0
