Setanta signal stops being decoded after a while not watching!

(yes, I am firstly aware of the difficulties people have with cancelling Setanta beforre this thread gets hijcked!)
I am obviously a subscriber to Setanta and have been for quite a while (a year or so). Bought it to watch the football as I dont fancy shelling out for Sky until one of those half price offers comes along! Anyway - over the summer I decided to switch my freeview boxes over from the cheap Setanta box to my PVR for better image quality and to record some stuff. I didn't bother cancelling Setanta as I planned to watch the pre-season games and golf, etc. Ultimately I didnt watch them though.
Anyway, I went to watch UFC the other night, and could not get a picture. After messing arond with the aerial, resetting the box a number of times, still no better! I put it down to a poor signal and watched it online instead.
Today I went to watch the Arsenal Champions League qualifier, only to find it still didnt work. So, I ended up having to phone Setanta's wonderful customer service at god-knows-how-much per minute. After a 10 minute wait, I finally got through. Apparently the problem has nothing to do with my box/card, except for the fact it wasnt turned on. Apparently after a while the signal is no longer sent/decoded so you're basically cut off from Setanta unless you then phone them up to get them to reactivate it! And of course you have to pay for the privilege by calling their CS line.
So, a word of advice - make sure you tune into setanta on a regular basis (even briefly) or you could find that when you go to watch it, it no longer works! They also didnt say how long your box needed to be switched off for this to happen - could be two weeks, could be a month.

They send an activation signal every month, if your box doesnt receive one for a period of 2 months, it will deactivate the card...its a security measure from top up rather than Setanta.
Advise you call before a big match day as the volumes of traffic determine the time it takes to activate..hope this helps.0
