    Why not open an account for each of you? Comes to the same thing in the end tax-wise surely?

    what if one of the two goes bust? what happens to the money?

    Not quite sure I understand your question.

    Do you mean that you or your partner might be declared bankrupt?
    If you have savings of that magnitude surely that is unlikely?

    I meant what if one of us dies? if the account isnt joint what happens to the money? We aren't married just living together.

    I send to them the requested documents. Any idea how long it takes for my account to be opened?

    It goes into the deceased's estate.

    It would be a good idea for you both to make wills, so the money ends up where you want it to.

    I have thought of it but is there another way? I guess if its an internet account i can get it out without signing anything?

    Somehow I would think that would be fraud as you would not be the account holder.
