Cruises- mind boggling!! Any ideas??

Hi!

I am new to the boards but have been taking your hints on loads of other things, so thought I would post something myself!!

I am trying to book a cruise for the family later in the year and to be honest I am struggling as there are so many companies offering the same thing! I regularly ue skyscanner and travel supermarket, but is there such a thing for cruises?? It would make life alot easier if there were!! I am still googling so will keep you posted on progress!

I'd be very interested as well. Met someone on a cruise earlier this year who had previously booked a last minute cruise for a great price. So there has to a site out there somewhere. We have used 'vacationstogo' an American site that gives great prices if you cruise from the USA. Be warned that only some cruise companies allow you to book through USA travel agents. Still worth a try though.

    hi Blj

I think the first thing you need to decide is , where do you want to cruise? what type of cruise? Formal or informal ? It makes it easier if you know what you are looking for. Have you been cruising before ?

I booked a cruise yesterday for Sept 09, looked at a few Cruise lines that covered same area about the same time and choise the one that we thought was best value for money, then upgraded the cabin to a balcony one so blew the savings  I did search online, and phoned a few places in the end I went onto website for the cruise we decided on , printed off the quote and went to local travel agent and they beact the price lol I do it that way every year with out holidays lol

we booked a last minute cruise from www.idealcruising.co.uk which was about 5% cheaper then the last minute price on the cruiselines own site.

try looking at www.cruisecritic.com for more ideas especially the forums
  • We are regular cruise goers and I always book at www.bolsovercruiseclub.co.uk , I usually ring them and they are very helpful and have been voted no1 independant cruise agent again this year, I have tried to shop around but always come back to them, as the prices are very good and they actually know what all of the ships are like as they send their staff on the ships so they can talk to customers.

They have some really good offers and late deals, with Cruising it is worth dealing with someone who knows what they are talking about.

    Any questions just pm me!

There are plendy of web site that offer deals etc. on cruises - I have just added alink for one that I know does appear to have a good selection and prices. I agree with doelani in that you should have a good idea where, when and which itinerary you wish to cruise. Another good cruise site with lots of info on it is Ship Happens.

we are big fans of roya caribbean and always book with cruise deals but go back and forth a few times with prices to get the lowest deal. Save n sail are good and competitive too. Feel free to take a look at my pics as there are a couple of cruise pics on there (both royal caribbean) www.bexpics.fotopic.net
We always sail in the caribbean and have never paid more than £1100 each for a balcony cabin.

Thanks for all your advice. We know where we want to go, it's the right deal that is most important as some add extras such as hotel stays afterwards etc.

During my search last night |I did manage to find a great website, which I think would be helpful to everyone here!! It was just what I wanted..a comparison site, which compares all the agents you have mentioned. You then get in touch with the one you want, but saves the time of messing around for ages. It basically works like travelsupermarket, but for cruises!!

    :j

Website to look at is www.cruisepricescompared.com and it's all UK companies

I've just booked our cruise on there - yippee!!!

Hope it helps everyone else out as much as it did me! Nice thing is you still deal with the agent directly so you know who is taking your money.
