E-bay - Am I just being over sensitive?

  • I generally get the impression that it's being geared more and more to the power seller business and us "clear out the spare bedroom"s are being swept aside. Anyway, I've reported the e-mails as you just don't conduct yourself like that and I don't care if the buyer doesn't like it. Did your Granny go to my school? My school motto was "Manners Maketh Man" and I regularly mutter this under my breath :D
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

Perhaps ebay should make it a bit clearer when your a private seller. At the moment it says under the user ID account type business but on a private sellers info it doesn't say anything so perhaps buyers assume you are a business by the type of stuff you sell. There are also a lot of business sellers who have still not registered as such and have now lost their powerseller status.

I dearly wish I could now leave feedback old style for the buyer... instead of the new nicey-nicey.....

You don't have to leave any and I wouldn't for a buyer like this. If they leave you a neg then calmly and factually leave a reply, they will end up looking a lot worse than you.

  • I think buyers have a different attitude if you are a registered business seller. They expect the item to be posted as soon as they pay.

Yes even if they buy at 11.00pm on a Saturday night, you then get an email first thing Sunday asking if it has been posted yet!!

Yup Greg with you all the way on that one!

On the other hand, i bought something off Ebay (I'm normally a seller) and after a week it hadn't arrived so I emailed the seller and he said he'd posted it already. When I eventually received it, (2 WEEKS LATER!!) the post mark was dated the day before so they couldn't have dispatched when they said they had!

  • Well it looks like the overflow cross stitch suitcases on top of the wardrobe will be staying there for some time and the toiletries cupboard will just be used up rather than flogged. I wouldn't mind but what I've sold is a bottle of unopened perfume at about a quarter of the retail price!! Some people

if the person leaves neg feedback - it isn't the end of the world.

the average ebayer will spot that the neg was left by an idiot anyway.
You got to get through what you've got to go through to get what you want but you got to know what you want to get through what you got to go through.

    Yes, very much agreed.

I've seen sellers too that are ULTRA aggressive in their negative feedback. There was one (a company) that had something that I wanted worth about £300. So I phoned them up. Bolshy doesn't even come close. "What'd want?" "Erm, I'm phoning as you have particularly bad feedback and I am interested in one of your items. I'm just phoning to see what you're all about." "FCUK OFF!" Needless to say that I didn't buy from them. I went straight to the manufacturer and paid about 25% more to have the item new and with a full guarantee.

Here, I'll go find that seller... http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&ftab=AllFeedback&userid=cryptiensis2004&iid=-1&de=off&interval=0&items=200 Has a particular dislike of foreigners, and everyone is stupid (apparently).

    64MB MFM HARD DRIVE ST506 £195.00

    BRAND NEW 486 MOTHERBOARD £99.00
    £5.00

    NEC FD1055 FLOPPY DRIVE 5 1/4" £89.00
    £5.00

BRAND NEW MITSUMI 1.44MB FLOPPY DRIVE P/N;D359M3D £35.00

Needless to say, their prices are ridiculous.

I have to ask - is this Armitage Shanks?
