Order not honoured and no refund given from illgadgets.com

Options
Hello,

Last year for Christmas my fiance tried to buy an Ipod Touch from illgadgets.com. She received an email a week before Xmas stating they could not honor the order and she would receive her money back.

At the start of this year the company went in to liquidation, however they emailed my Fiance again to ensure that she would still get her money back. About 1 month later still no refund, so I had her send an email to them again and once again another email apologising for delay and a refund would be on its way.

Well we are now in August and its been a few months now, and I don't know why she has not chased it with trading standards etc.. but was wondering if any one here has had any dealings with illgadgets.com?

Does anyone know how I can get some info on them or what our next step should be?

Ps.

There website has been closed down. I tried using easywhois.com and no info returned :(

Many thanks in advance

  • If she'd contacted her credit card company and raised a dispute with them, she may have gotten her money back. I don't know if there's any chance after all this time though.

  • You ARE timebarrred with claiming against your credit card company BUT the good news is if a company goes into liquidation, the timebarring no longer counts.
I bought goods from one of the TV shopping channels, returned the goods and never got a refund. By the time I contacted my credit card company, I'd missed the deadline by a couple of days. I was told if the company had went bust, it would have been ok.
Few days later, article in a Sunday paper said the company had went into liquidation. Phoned CC company again and got my money back.

I think it was 180 days for claiming when a firm hasn't went into liquidation. I am unsure if there is any timelimit if a firm has went into liquidation.
Check with your local citizens advice first, they'll tell you.
