Someone gave me a webcam, its an old one but it has no name on it and they don't know the name either.
I have plugged it in by usb and xp says new hardware found but it can't find to instal drivers.
I have tried drivermax and Balarc Advisor and nothing shows up. Is there a way I can find out? I can't post any pictures of it here as I don't have a camera daughter took it on holiday but its light beigh with no shutter and a long green thin button on the top not sure if thats an on off button or pic taking button

Whilst it's plugged in, take a look at the Device Manager(Flying Windows key + Pause Break) > Hardware > Device Manager. Take a note of the position of any yellow question marks.
Next, download and run; Unknown Device Identifier
Hopefully this way, you will be provided with more information about your hardware.0 -
I did instal it but for some reason it kept giving an error code and wouldnt work. I did try the Drivermax again for identifying unknown hardware and this is all it came up with
USB Device
Manufacturer
Hardware type
unknown
Hardware class
unknown
Hardware ID
Vid_0733&Pid_0001
Vendor ID
0733
Don't know if anyone can make anything of that?Thanx

I'm a bit confused by that link, are you saying its a viewquest webcam for sure?
Its difficult to tell which model it is though and what drivers I would need, nothing seems to go with the hardware id as far as I can seeThanx

I can see the picture of the green one is exactly the same as the one I've got but mines a grey/biege kind of colour like older pcs used to be so it will be an older one. Its not easy finding drivers for it though there doesnt seem to be a real viewquest site or anything to check what model it isThanx

Did you run the Unknown Device Identifier, with any result?0

No it gave an error everytime I tried to run it but drivermax had the same kind of thing 'identify unknown hardware' and all it came up with was in the above post
I've found this and it looks just like the webeye 370 but don't know if I can get drivers for it or software for windows xp pro

T'Internet.
For the Viewquest specifically here.
Is this safe to try even though they are not the right drivers for this webcam? I just dont want it to cause any probs on the computer, would it be ok to try it?
The one I have looks more like the web eye 370 but mine is grey biegh colourThanx
