ADSL Router & existing BB modem/connection

Options
I am a Silver Surfer and not very technically minded and was very pleased with myself as I have just managed to set up a wireless connection from my desktop upstairs to laptop downstairs. I am with Madasafish and have used their G ADSL2+ modem router that I blagged as a free gift for continuing my contract. I thought everything was working fine after setting it up. Desktop connects fine and laptop picks up fine downstairs. A couple of times in the last 2 days when I am on the desktop, it seems to drop the connection and then the desktop keeps trying to connect using the old BB Voyager external modem connection. I have removed this modem and have now removed the connection from the IE Internet properties but it did it again this morning when I switched on. The old connection box comes up and its now looking for my very old dialup internal modem connections. I have been able to get the Router connection back by unplugging the power lead from the Router, leaving it for 10 seconds and then plugging it back in. Any suggestions, I lost the connection when I was bidding for something on Ebay last night, very annoying.

Ok, have set to 'never dial a connection'. How do I find which channel the router is using.
Had a look in Network connections/properties and didnt see anything about channels.
Yes, the connection is encrypted, where do I check that its set to connect automatically ?

    Hi again,
Perhaps i'm being dim, but I cant find either of the pages that you mention. I use XP on this desktop
computer. Can you give me an idea of where to go to find the wireless configuration page.
The router is a DSL-G624T D-Link and it is a wired ethernet connection from the router to the computer Again, I have searched and can find no mention of this.
In settings/controlpanel/networkconnections it just shows Local area network which then gives me SIS 900 Fast Ethernet Adaptor.
    Many thanks

    hi agiain Loaner
, since ticking the never connect box, things seem to be working ok. No dropped connections and no conflict with old connection box. So, keeping fingers crossed. Thanks for you help
