Homebase -> Egg Balance Transfer Help

Hi. I'm after some help regarding a balance transfer that I'm trying (and so far failing) to set up. The situation is that I have an outstanding debt on a Homebase store card that I want to balance transfer to my shiny new Egg card (with 0% on balance transfers for 12 months (and yes, I do know about the 3% balance transfer fee)). I rang Egg to arrange this at the end of July but after querying why it had not shown on my account, was told that the request had not been authorise (nice of them to let me know ). Anyway, their customer service representative wanted to put it through again by me providing the account number and sort code of the store card, stating that it was still a balance transfer. Now I confess to not knowing a great deal about how these credit card companies work but I would've thought that this was not the same as a balance transfer, even though this is what I was told (and hence the 0% balance transfer for 12 months would not apply). Could anyone please advise me on what to do? Thanks in advance for any help.

I didnt think you could balance transfer to Homebase, there are numerous pots of people saying they have had problems.
The best to do would be to get an MBNA or Virgin card, transfer the money from Virgin/MBNA to your current account and then pa the billin thetraditional fashion.5KW solar, Lux 3.8KW inverter, Uhome 2400 LPF x 6, SOLIC 200 immerser diverter, Leaf 62Kwh, Skoda Enyaq 85, Ohme home charger, Zappi v2.1, Eddi, Import: Octopus intelligent ; Export: Octopus Energy Export, 15KW biomass pellet boiler - Windhager., Home Assistant0 -
Thanks. Is the Virgin card you mean this one? - http://uk.virginmoney.com/credit-card-v3/more-info.html Does that mean I can transfer an amount into my current account for a fee of 2.98% at 0% for 15 months? So I can pay off my Homebase and then just owe Virgin the money (plus the 2.98% fee)?0

...and also is this process a 'super balance transfer'? If so, I've read that Egg usually allow this at 0%. Does anyone know if this is still the case (their terms and conditions don't make it very apparent)?0

Yes. A few rather special credit cards - including Egg card and Virgin - will allow you to transfer an overdraft to them, (in other words, transfer cash from the credit card to your current account), at balance transfer rates. From there you can settle your Homebase account

Brilliant. Just what I'm after thanks. It's a bit of a pain to do (rather than just BT the Homebase account) but it means I can transfer the debt to 0% for a year. Cheers for confirming that.0
